Afghan civil aviation authority reports $4 mln decline in revenue
Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority on Saturday said it has seen a $4 million decline in revenue over the first six months of 2020, as compared to similar period last year.
The survey has been conducted in cooperation with World Health Organization and Johns Hopkins University.
In Kabul, 53 percent of people were infected with the virus while in eastern provinces the percentage was 42.9 percent, where herd immunity has relatively been achieved, said Ahmad Javad Osmani, the acting public health minister.
Percentage of coronavirus infection in central provinces stand at 36.3, western provinces (34.1 percent), northeastern provinces (32.4 percent).
The findings indicate infection among women stand at 32 percent while it is 29 percent among men.
The survey also suggests that infection among people above 18 years old stands at 35.2 percent while it is 25.3 percent among children aged 5 to 17 years.
In Kabul, 46.4 percent of children have been infected with coronavirus, but they had no symptoms and were not hospitalized. The virus infected 57 percent of people above 18 years old in the province, Osmani said.
The findings come as the country’s confirmed number of coronavirus cases is 36,711 with 70 percent recoveries. There have been 1,284 recorded deaths from the virus.
