COVID-19 Latest: 48 New Cases Reported in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Public Health on Sunday reported that 48 new cases of the coronavirus were positive out of 468 samples tested over the last 24 hours.


So far, 98,772 samples have been tested in government centers and there are 8,998 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, according to data by the Ministry of Public Health.    
In the last 24 hours, the ministry also reported five new deaths from COVID-19 and 57 recoveries.  
 The number of total cases is now 37,599, the total reported deaths is 1,375, and the total recoveries is 27,223.    
The cases were reported in Ghor (15), Kabul (4), Herat (4), Bamiyan (4), Takhar (5), Baghlan (1), Badghis (2), Kunduz (5), Daikundi (5) and Laghman (1) provinces. 
 
The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 771,114 and the number of global coronavirus cases is 21,463,178, according to Johns Hopkins University.
