Negotiators Continue to Struggle on Talks Agenda: Intra-Afghan Negotiations
DOHA, Qatar – A joint meeting between the negotiating teams of Afghanistan and the Taliban was expected on Saturday evening in Doha, according to sources, to resolve disputed points regarding rules and regulations of the peace talks.
There is no report immediately released on whether or not the talks were held Saturday night.
The two sides have a disagreement on four key issues: one of them is the term used for “war,” according to TOLOnews reporter Karim Amini in Doha, while others revolve around religious and human rights matters.
This came a week after an opening meeting of the intra-Afghan talks were held on Saturday, September 12, in Qatari capital Doha, leading the negotiators to at least a dozen sub-meetings to form an agenda and the mechanism of the negotiations. Yet, the parties have to unite thoughts to finally begin the first round of intra-Afghan talks.
