Human Rights Watch: sending immediate humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan is necessary

خبرگزاری Afghan Voice Agency(AVA) , 4 Jun 2022 - 13:39

Human Rights Watch says that donor countries and institutions should provide immediate humanitarian assistance to those in need in Afghanistan.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA), World Human Rights Watch has expressed concern about the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and reiterated the urgent need for Afghan assistance.

"The international community and the Islamic Emirate need to work together to revitalize Afghanistan's economy," said Heider Barr, the organization’s deputy director for women.

He added: "I think there was a misconception that winter is over and the crisis is over. This is far from the truth. Too many people are starving right now. This threat intensifies when winter begins again.

The deputy director of the women's section at Human Rights Watch says any delay in providing aid to Afghanistan would be fatal and catastrophic.

He added that the lack of agreement between the Islamic Emirate and the world, especially the United States, has seriously damaged Afghanistan's economic recovery.

After the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, about $ 9.5 billion in US assets were frozen in the United States. During this period, aid packages have been provided by the international community to Afghanistan, but the amount has not been significant.

According to the United Nations, more than one million children in Afghanistan are at risk of death due to famine and malnutrition this year.
