A street book fair was held in Kabul.
A book fair was held on a Kabul Street to encourage people to read books.
Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, The organizers of the exhibition said nearly 2,000 books of various topics were displayed in this exhibition.

“Although the time has passed for the book week, we still try to hold book fairs to encourage the youth,” said Abdulbaqi Ayoubi, an organizer. “Books are the only way to learn about social facts and your own situation and how to overcome it,” said Mohib, a book seller.

The visitors welcomed the exhibition and said it will encourage youth to bring their attention to book reading. “The restrictions on female students have risen and I hope such exhibitions will be held to motivate the girls,” said Halima, a visitor.

“The people are now less interested. We may just look at them but will not be reading it or purchasing any,” said Helai, a visitor. The exhibition was held for a period of three days.
Economic challenges and youth’s attention on social media in recent years have been suggested as main reasons for decreased interest in book reading.
