Afghan Voice Agency (AVA), The UN Security Council held a meeting on Tuesday evening local time on the developments in Yemen, most of which was held behind closed doors. In part of the meeting, which was held in public, a representative of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs expressed hope that the extension of the ceasefire in Yemen would lead to an end to the conflict.
The UN envoy for humanitarian affairs added: "We hope that the extension of the ceasefire will lead to an end to the conflict forever, which in turn will end the crisis in Yemen forever."
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) official also said that rising food prices, in part due to the Ukraine war, had affected humanitarian budgets.
At the suggestion of the United Nations, a two-month ceasefire was established in Yemen on April, the most important of which was the entry of 18 fuel-carrying ships into the ports of Al-Hudaidah and the permission of two weekly round-trip flights from Sanaa Airport.
Despite repeated violations of the ceasefire by the Saudi coalition, Hans Grundberg, the UN special envoy for Yemen, announced the extension of the two-month ceasefire in Yemen.
The UN special envoy for Yemen also said that he had received reports of ceasefire violations from the parties to the conflict, without mentioning the violator.
"We urge the Houthis to respond positively to the UN proposals for peace talks," he said.
Russia's envoy to the United Nations also pointed to the growing number of positive signs in Yemen at the Security Council meeting and welcomed the extension of the ceasefire in the country due to its difficulty.
Russia's envoy to the United Nations praised the complex mediation work carried out by the UN special envoy and called for the lifting of all restrictions on access to food and resources throughout Yemen.
