Singapore Red Cross: SGD$50,000 Aid to Afghanistan
The 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck Afghanistan on Wednesday prompted the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) to offer SGD$50,000 in support of the victims of June 22.
Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, The organization announced on Thursday, June 23rd, that the funds would be used to meet the immediate needs of people affected, including the provision of food and water, emergency shelter, trauma care, sanitation, and hygiene supplies.

Benjamin William, the Secretary General of the Singapore Red Cross said, “We are deeply saddened by the devastation and loss of lives, especially for a country that is already facing a dire economic and humanitarian crisis. The survivors are in urgent need of clean water, food and shelter, which we are working with our partners on the ground to provide.”

The organization makes note that relief supplies including food, water, tents, blankets, and tarpaulins are on their way to the earthquake affected areas.

The earthquake that devastatingly shook south-eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday has killed almost 1,000 and injured over 1,500, with the Taliban officials saying that the death toll is very likely to increase as the rescue teams search for victims who may be buried beneath the ground.

The southeasterly provinces of Paktika and Khost were hit by Afghanistan’s deadliest earthquake in 20 years, which measured 6.1 on the Richter scale.
