Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Yesterday, Tuesday (June 28), the Afghan Women's Institute for Peace and Freedom, during a press conference, expressed its concerns about the absence of women in the Loya Jirga of the Islamic Emirate and called for the participation of civil society and women in this Jirga.
Aamiri Fadai; a member of the institute said that in Islam, the rights of men and women are equal and the Islamic Emirate should pay serious attention in this regard.
Fadai added that the right of women to political participation is guaranteed in Article 23 of the Islamic Declaration of Human Rights, and according to the provisions of this declaration, men and women have the right to participate directly or indirectly in the administration of the country's affairs.
According to him, the Islamic Emirate should also invite women to the Consultative Jirga so that they can decide on the affairs of the country and their political destiny.
Ms. Fadai emphasized; The decisions of the Jirga are not fair without the presence of women, and Afghan women do not accept decisions in absentia about their own destiny.
Mir Mohammad Taha; One of the religious scholars invited to the Consultative Jirga of the Islamic Emirate said in the program that in all matters of statehood, different strata, especially the women of the country, should be consulted because; Women are the half body of society.
Taha added: "In the Consultative Jirga, the country's economy, people's solidarity and the elimination of ethnic prejudices will be discussed." He said nothing more about the agenda of the Consultative Jirga.
Setareh Sadat, another member of the Afghan Women's Institute for Peace and Freedom, says women have been actively involved in political and social activities throughout the history of Islam.
Sadat added: "Others should not decide the fate of Afghan women and they have the legal and religious right to determine their own destiny."
He also stressed the reopening of girls' schools, saying that education is a right for girls and that the Islamic Emirate should make its final decision on reopening schools.
