Abu Muslim’s Tomb on Verge of Collapse

Residents of Logar province said that the tomb of Abdul Rahman bin Muslim, known as Abu Muslim Khorasani, is on the brink of collapse and needs to be restored.


Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, Abu Muslim Khorasani, who served as the commander-in-chief of the Abbasid Caliphate, and led the Abbasid Revolution which overthrew the Umayyad Caliphate, was one of the famous figures of Khorasan, whose tomb is located in Cheluzai village of Logar.

“Here women used to come, they were bringing flour and were baking cookies,” said Gul Nazar, a resident of Logar.

“Back in the day this place flourished and on Thursdays people used to come here to have fun,” said Fazulrabi, a resident of Baraki Barak district of Logar.

Residents of Logar asked the Ministry of Information and Culture to focus on the restoration of Abu Muslim Khorasani's tomb.

“It has been around 12 years, and now this tomb is on the brink of collapse. We ask the Islamic Emirate to rebuild it as soon as possible,” a resident of Logar said.

In Logar province there is also a school named Abu Muslim Khorasani.
Meanwhile, the director of Information and culture in Logar acknowledged the need for the renovation of this tomb and stated that they have asked Kabul to take action for its restoration.

The officials at this government organization also said that the country's historical sites and ancient antiques have not been given any special attention during the past 20 years.

“It is necessary to restore and maintain not only the tomb of Abu Muslim Khorasani, but also other historical monuments in the country,” said Rafiullah Samim, director of information and culture in Logar.

Abu Muslim Khorasani is believed to have been born in Merv or Isfahan either in 718-19 or 723-27.
