Policewomen Return to Work

Nine of eleven policewomen have returned to their duties, officials of Kandahar's central prison said.


Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, “We have a separate section for women, and we hired nine policewomen that have all-day responsibility,” said Mawlawi Akhter Mohammad Agha Husseini, head of Kandahar's central prison. 

These policewomen called on their other colleagues to return their duties. “It has been seven months and I have returned to my duty, and now I am happy, I can work here and pay my family's expenses,” said Farida, head of the policewomen at Kandahar's central prison. 

“I had worked for 15 years in the previous government and now after the Islamic Emirate took power it has been seven months before I returned to my duty, and I am satisfied,” said Khadijah, a policewoman in the women's section. 

50 women are currently inmates in the women's section in the Kandahar prison. In addition to criminals, some are there who were addicted to drugs and are being treated. 

“Their behavior with us is good, we are so happy and pleased for their presence here,” said Bakhtawar, a prisoner.
