The Australian senator called the Queen of England a "colonialist"

3 Aug 2022 - 8:55

The Australian aboriginal senator called her the "colonial" Queen Elizabeth II when she was sworn in as Queen of England.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Lydia Thorpe", a native of Australia, called the Queen "a colonialist" when she took her oath of allegiance to Queen Elizabeth to enter the Australian Parliament.

Thorpe is the first Indigenous Australian to enter parliament and was sworn in on Monday local time. He called the queen a colonialist as he raised his right fist and went to the parliament floor to take the oath.

In her oath she said: "I, Lydia Thorpe, solemnly and solemnly swear to remain faithful, I owe allegiance to Queen Elizabeth the Colonist."

One of the senators replied to him: "If you don't do it right, you are not a senator."
When asked again to take his oath properly, he said, "Sovereignty was never surrendered."

Although the Australian aborigines are one of the oldest groups that have lived on earth, the British government considers Australia to be no man's land.

Australia was a British colony for more than 100 years, and although it became a separate nation in 1901, it is still recognized as part of the United Kingdom and includes 56 principalities ruled by Queen Elizabeth.
