Putin: Russia and Turkey have many projects to implement

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at the beginning of the conversation with his Turkish counterpart: the two countries have many bilateral projects to implement.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced plans to open a new page in bilateral relations during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on Friday (August 5).
 
Erdogan said: Today's talks are important regarding the role of Turkey and Russia in the region. I hope a new page will open in bilateral relations. We intend to discuss the relations between the two countries in all fields and reach a conclusion on how to proceed.
 
The President of Turkey also stated that the steps taken both in the energy sector and in the creation of the grain corridor in the Black Sea, as well as the negotiations on the tourism industry and the initiatives carried out in the transport sector are positive for our region.
 
According to the Russian "Tass" news agency, Putin also stated at the beginning of the conversation with Erdogan that the two countries have many bilateral projects to implement. Putin noted that bilateral trade doubled in the first quarter of 2022.
 
Putin said: Let me say that our trade increased by 57% last year and doubled in the first months of this year, including May.
 
According to this report, the trade volume between Russia and Turkey in 2021 was about 35 billion dollars. In 2022, according to experts, trade between the two countries will probably reach 50-60 billion dollars.
 
Putin and Erdogan met and talked in Sochi on Friday. Earlier, Turkish media announced that Erdogan plans to discuss with his Russian counterpart during the Sochi talks, the readiness of Turkish forces to conduct new military operations in northern Syria.
 
On the other hand, the spokesman of the Kremlin Palace announced that the leaders of the two countries will discuss the agreement on the transportation of grain remaining in Ukrainian ports, as well as the recent developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
