21 Aug 2022 - 9:27

Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, demanded the cancellation of sanctions against the officials of the Islamic Emirate by the UN Security Council.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tweeted that the UN Security Council should not use the option of sanctions as a pressure tool.

He added that if the travel of Islamic Emirate officials is banned, this will create distance between Afghanistan and the world.

Yesterday, there was a disagreement among the members of the UN Security Council regarding the continuation of granting exemptions to the foreign trips of the officials of the Islamic Emirate, and it did not reach a conclusion.

Meanwhile, the closure of girls' schools from the sixth grade up, the state of human rights, the freedom of the media, as well as the lack of political and social participation of women in the current government, are some of the issues that the international community is concerned about and the recognition of the Islamic Emirate. It has also been delayed.
