Amir Khan Muttaqi's telephone conversation with Sergey Lavrov/ Muttaqi: Comprehensive investigation will be conducted

After the suicide attack yesterday (Monday, September 5) near the Russian Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi, had a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. He has assured his Russian counterpart that he will conduct comprehensive investigations in this case. Thomas West, the US special representative for Afghanistan affairs, while expressing his sympathy to the families of the victims.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) Kabul: Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in a tweet that the purpose of this conversation was to examine the surroundings and aspects of yesterday's explosion near the Russian embassy.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi has assured his Russian counterpart that he will conduct a comprehensive investigation in this matter.
Amir Khan Muttaqi emphasized in this conversation that both sides should not allow such negative actions of the enemies to affect the close and positive relations between the two countries.
While deploring yesterday's incident, Lavrov called this incident the work of international criminal organizations and emphasized on fighting against them.
Amir Khan Muttaqi has assured his Russian counterpart that Afghan security forces will pay special attention to the security of the Russian Embassy.
 Yesterday's attack on the Russian embassy has been condemned by many countries, international organizations and internal authorities of Afghanistan.
 The United States of America, which is in an unrelenting tension with Russia due to the war in Ukraine, has also condemned yesterday's attack and expressed its sympathy to the families of the victims of this incident.
Thomas West tweeted on Monday night, 5th of September: "The United States condemns the terrorist attack that occurred outside the Russian Embassy in Kabul earlier today."
He also added: "I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims who were killed or injured."
Thomas West called this terrorist attack senseless and said: "This violence has no purpose."
 It should be noted that in yesterday's suicide attack near the Russian embassy in the 7th district of Kabul, dozens of people, including two Russian diplomats, were killed and wounded.
The attack on the Russian embassy is taking place while the political and economic relations between the two countries are expanding and recently the Minister of Trade and Industry of Afghanistan has signed economic contracts with Russia, including the import of oil and gas.
