21 Sep 2022 - 10:20

The President of Turkey says that his Russian counterpart has shown his desire to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with "PBS" on Monday (28 September) that Russia wants to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible.

According to "Tass", the President of Turkey, in response to a question about the end of the conflict in Ukraine, said, "Russia's attitude in this regard will be very, very important. In Uzbekistan, I met with President Putin and had extensive discussions with him." According to Erdogan, the Russian president showed him that he wants to end this conflict as soon as possible.

Erdogan also responded to the question "should Russia be allowed to keep some of the territories it has captured since the invasion of Ukraine in February", Erdogan said: "No, definitely not, when it comes to mutual agreement." We do, that's what we mean. If there is to be peace in Ukraine, the return of the invaded territory will certainly be crucial. This is what is expected and demanded.

The Turkish president's statements about the need to return the Russian-dominated parts of Ukraine come at a time when he is occupying parts of Iraq and Syria and conducting military operations in their territories despite the opposition of the governments of these countries.

Although months have passed since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, the president of this country, Volodymyr Zelensky, recently accused Russia of committing war crimes and said that he does not see an early end to the war. In an interview with Reuters, Zelensky said that the outcome of the war with Russia depends above all on the rapid delivery of weapons by foreign countries to Kiev.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently warned about the underestimation of Russia by the Europeans, and said that the war between Russia and Ukraine does not seem to end in the near future, and the Europeans should have thought about the energy crisis in advance.

Erdogan also accused Western countries of "provoking" Russia and said that in return, Russia was forced to cut off Europe's energy supply. He also claimed that his country has adopted a balanced position towards Russia and Ukraine and is looking for a solution to this crisis.
