International Energy Agency
During a conference held in Singapore on the occasion of the International Energy Week, the director of the International Energy Agency warned against the decrease in energy supply by producers and the increase in demand in the world, calling it a "real energy crisis".
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Fatih Birol, director of the International Energy Agency, said: the growth of the import of liquefied natural gas, "LNG" to Europe in the midst of the Ukraine crisis and the possibility of improvement in Chinese demand for this fuel, will limit the supply of the market; Because only 20 billion cubic meters of new liquefied natural gas capacity will enter the market next year.

On Tuesday, October 25, during a conference in Singapore held on the occasion of the International Energy Week, he said: "The recent decision of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies known as "OPEC Plus" to reduce production by 2 million barrels per day is a "risky" decision. Because the International Energy Agency expected global oil demand to grow by nearly 2 million barrels per day this year.

Mr Birol went on to say that this decision is particularly dangerous as several economies around the world are on the brink of recession. Rising prices of energy sources, including oil, natural gas, and coal, affect consumers.

If the weather stays mild, Europe may get through this winter, "albeit somewhat damaged," Mr Birol said.

According to the head of the International Energy Agency, oil consumption is expected to grow by 1.7 million barrels per day in 2023, so the world still needs Russian oil to enter the market.

Stating that "the world still needs Russian oil despite the price cap," Mr. Birol said that 80-90 percent flow would be a good and encouraging level to meet demand. The price cap is designed to limit Russia's oil revenue due to its military attack on Ukraine.

Mr. Birol considered the current energy crisis in the world as a turning point in the history of energy, which can accelerate the expansion of clean energy sources and create a safe and sustainable energy system.

He said: "Energy security is the main influencing factor in the energy transition, because countries see energy technologies and renewable energy as a solution.

The International Energy Agency predicts that renewable energy will increase by 400 gigawatts in 2022, which is a 20% increase over last year.
