Suspension of food exports from Ukraine/ USA accused Russia of "food weaponization"
Following Moscow's decision to suspend food exports from Ukraine, the United States has accused Russia of food weaponization and has seen this action as meaning that people and families around the world will have to pay more for food or starve.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Associated Press reported on Sunday, October 30, that the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the reason for its decision to suspend food exports was the Ukrainian drone attack on the country's fleet in the Black Sea.

Ukraine has rejected Russia's claim of interception of Russian ships.

US President Joe Biden called Russia's suspension of the grain contract "simply cruel", while US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Moscow was "weaponizing food".

Blinken called this suspension regrettable and asked all parties not to hinder this vital program.

Any move by Russia to disrupt grain exports is essentially a statement that people and families around the world must pay more for food or go hungry, Blinken said in a statement.

Moscow's statement came a day after UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on Russia and Ukraine to extend the grain export agreement that was set to expire on November 19.
