Widely Condemnation over Attack on Pakistan Embassy in Kabul

The attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul in which at least one person was critically wounded has triggered reactions at national and international levels.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, The United Nations Security Council in a statement condemned the attack and said it asks all relevant parties to respect and ensure the safety and security of diplomatic and consular premises and personnel of United Nations Members States.

 
The attack on the Pakistan embassy happened shortly after an attack on Hizb-e-Islami leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s office in which at least two people were killed.
 
The attack on Pakistani embassy was also slammed by some Kabul-based diplomatic missions.  
 
The embassy of Iran said on Twitter that it condemns the “terrorist incidents” including attack on the Pakistan embassy as well as on Hekmatyar’s office.
 
US State Department spokesperson Ned Price also condemned the attack on Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul.  
 
“We wish a quick recovery to those affected by the violence and support calls for a full and transparent investigation,” Price said.  
 
US Chargé d’Affaires Karen Decker said on Twitter that she joins the “call for a swift, thorough and transparent investigation.”
 
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry in a statement said that “there are no plans to close the embassy or withdraw diplomats from Kabul.” 
 
“Pakistan is in contact with the Interim Government in Afghanistan and enhanced security measures are being taken to protect Pakistani diplomatic personnel and Missions in Afghanistan,” the ministry said.
 
Meanwhile, Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in a phone call with Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday pledged special attention will be paid to the security of Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul.
 
According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi, Muttaqi said that efforts are ongoing to find the perpetrators of the attack on the Pakistan Embassy and bring them to justice. 
 
The Pakistani foreign minister said that such attacks cannot harm relations between the two countries.
