US: We Will Intervene If Terrorists Regroup in Afghanistan
Ned Price expressed concerns that Afghanistan would once again become a haven for terrorists while simultaneously warning that it would intervene and take action if terrorists regrouped in Afghanistan.
Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, During a press briefing, the US Department of State spokesperson, Ned Price, reiterated US President Joe Biden’s pledge to take action in the event of terrorists reassembling in Afghanistan.

The statement was made on Wednesday in response to a question regarding the escalation in violence in Afghanistan and to stop offering “safe havens” to terrorist organizations.

The US’s overarching objective, according to Price, is to prevent terrorists and others from using Afghanistan as a “launchpad for attacks on Pakistan,” and the authorities in Afghanistan have been “either unable or unwilling to live up to the commitments.”

In terms of regional counterterrorism, Price said that the US also possesses capabilities that do not make it totally dependent on the authorities in Afghanistan, referring to the US assassination of Ayman Al-Zawahiri, the Al-Qaeda chief in Kabul, the Afghan capital.

Price referred to Pakistan as an important partner of the US in the region and indicated that the US appreciates its relations with Pakistan when he said, “We are committed to working with partners in the region” to tackle the problems posed by terrorists.

This comes as many countries in the international community have renewed their concerns on the resurgence of terrorism sparked by ISIS activities, the visit and stay of the late Al-Qaeda leader Al-Zawahiri and other militant groups such as TTP.
