Efforts to free Afghan refugees from Pakistan Prisons
The Afghan Embassy in Pakistan announced the release of about 500 out of 2,000 Afghan immigrants who are in Pakistani prisons. According to this institution, efforts to free the remaining 1,500 asylum seekers continue.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The embassy wrote in a tweet last night (December 18) that efforts to free other prisoners are continuing.
 
This embassy has said that the diplomats of the Islamic Emirate are in talks with the Pakistani authorities, and these officials have assured about solving the problems of Afghan immigrants.
 
It is said that Afghan immigrants in Pakistan have been arrested and imprisoned mainly because they do not have residence documents. Women and children are also included among the detained migrants.
 
Recently, Agnès Callamard, the Secretary General of Amnesty International, has expressed her concern in a letter to Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, about the life and security of Afghan immigrants in that country.
 
Agnès Callamard wrote that she is worried about the lives and safety of Afghan refugees who have gone to Pakistan.
