The ban on Afghan women and girls should be lifted
Marks Potzel, the deputy special envoy of the United Nations in Afghanistan, in a meeting with Nada Mohammad Nadim, acting minister of higher education, has called for the cancellation of the bans imposed on women and girls.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: UNAMA or the United Nations Mission in Afghanistan announced in a tweet today Saturday (January 7, 2023) about the meeting of Marks Potzel, the Deputy UN Envoy in Afghanistan, with Mawlavi Nada Mohammad Nadim, Acting Minister of Higher Education of the country.
 
In this meeting, the UN Deputy Envoy asked the Acting Minister of Higher Education to cancel the restrictions imposed on women.
 
Potzel also said that banning women's education and working with non-governmental organizations by the Islamic Emirate harms all Afghan people.
 
Previously, Potzel had met with a number of high-ranking officials of the Islamic Emirate and discussed the current situation in the country.
 
Potzel is meeting with the Acting Minister of Higher Education, which recently issued a decree to ban the education of girls until further notice.
 
  The Islamic Emirate has not said anything about this meeting so far.
