According to the Ministry of Combating Natural Disasters of the Islamic Emirate, at least 70 people have died and 70,000 livestock have been lost during the severe cold in recent days.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Combating Natural Disasters of the Islamic Emirate has confirmed that at least 70 people and 70,000 livestock have died in recent days due to the cold weather in Afghanistan.
 
Officials of this ministry told Al Jazeera today that 70 people and 70,000 head of cattle were lost in the country last week.
 
Local sources in the provinces of Badghis, Herat, Nimroz, Faryab, Jawzjan, Samangan, Faryab, Sarpol, Ghor, Badakhshan, Daikundi, Herat, etc. have also reported human and animal casualties due to the cold.
 
Officials in the Ministry of Disaster Management of the Islamic Emirate also said that during the past two weeks, many provinces of Afghanistan have witnessed "extraordinary" cold weather, so that the lowest temperature was recorded in Ghor province (33 degrees below zero) over the weekend.
 
However, Mohammad Nasim Moradi, head of the Meteorological Department of the Islamic Emirate, said: This winter is by far the coldest winter in recent years. We expect the cold wave to last for a week or more.
 
On the other hand, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, expressed his sympathy with the families of the dead and injured in a statement.
 
It is stated in this statement: The relevant departments and officials are ordered to help the affected families as much as possible and to use all their facilities to prevent further casualties.
