Farid Mamondzi, Afghanistan's ambassador to India, says that connecting Iran's Chabahar port to the north and south of the world will cause fundamental changes in Afghanistan's economy, and 60% of the cost of transporting goods and 50% of their transportation time will be saved in Afghanistan.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Afghan Ambassador Farid Mamondzi said in a one-day working meeting on the development of the North-South International Transport Corridor in New Delhi that Afghanistan is going through a major economic crisis and holding such a meetings and implementation and projects can cause fundamental changes in Afghanistan's economy.
 
The country's ambassador to India says that Chabahar port is in harmony with the goals of the Afghan private sector and related economic institutions in this country and is beneficial to the Afghan economy.
 
In this meeting, which was attended by the officials of the Afghan Embassy, the officials of the embassies of Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and the officials of the Indian internal departments, Mamondzi added: If Chabahar port is connected to the international transportation corridor of the North and South of the world, 60% of the cost of transporting goods and 50% of their transportation time will be saved in Afghanistan.
 
The ambassador of Afghanistan in India said that although Afghanistan is facing a big crisis and a bad economic situation, it will not hesitate to take any necessary measures for farmers, businessmen and the private sector so that they do not fall behind in regional and global trade like in the past.
 
The connection of the North-South International Transport Corridor and Chabahar Port to Central Asia is discussed, while some time ago, about 500 containers of commercial goods of Afghan businessmen, which were transported from Indonesia and Malaysia to Afghanistan, due to high taxes in the port of Karachi, Pakistan, were sent from that port. It was returned to the countries of destination and finally reached Afghanistan through Chabahar port.
