Holding a closed session of the UN Security Council on Afghanistan

The United Nations Security Council is going to hold a closed meeting on Friday regarding the situation in Afghanistan at the request of the United Arab Emirates, Japan and France.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Shahad Matar, the United Arab Emirates spokesperson in the United Nations, said in a tweet that the meeting is scheduled to be held on Friday (January 27) at the request of France, the United Arab Emirates and Japan.
 
The message of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs also states: Considering the sensitive nature of this meeting and the current situation on the ground, a closed meeting is the most effective and appropriate format for the Council to hear the views of the UN Deputy Secretary.
 
In this meeting, Amina Mohammad, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, will provide information about the messages she gave during her recent visit to the Islamic Emirate and will also share her assessment of the situation in Afghanistan with the members of the Security Council.
 
The Security Council is going to hold a meeting on the situation in Afghanistan while Griffiths, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and his accompanying delegation, have come to Kabul to meet with the officials of the Islamic Emirate and talk about lifting restrictions on women.
