Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Stoltenberg said in an interview with Yonhap news agency on Sunday (January 29, 2023): We must strengthen the partnership between NATO and South Korea; because our security is more intertwined than ever. What happens in Asia, Indo-Pacific is important for Europe and NATO.

He added: China has invested heavily in increasing its modern military capabilities, including long-range missiles that can reach all NATO territories. The country has also rapidly ramped up its nuclear capabilities.

Stoltenberg said: We see China threatening countries, for example in the South China Sea region. This issue is very important for global trade and freedom of navigation.

In another part of his interview, NATO Secretary General said: We must deal with global threats and challenges, including the threats posed by China. One of the ways to deal with these threats is to work more closely with partners in the region.

Stoltenberg also called North Korea a "threat to global security."
