Clearing about 220 acres of land from drug cultivation in Herat
Officials of the fight against drug production and trafficking in Herat say that since the beginning of the campaign to clean up drug cultivation fields in Herat, about 220 acres of land have been cleared from the existence of drug cultivation in different districts of this province.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Herat: Maulavi Hayatullah Rohani, head of Herat province's anti-narcotics administration, says that today, Wednesday, about three acres of opium cultivation land were identified and destroyed in "Nangabad" village of Injil district.
 
Maulavi Rouhani also stated: The campaign to clean poppy fields started three weeks ago and is ongoing in different parts of Herat.
 
He further added: Since the beginning of the campaign, about 220 acres of drug cultivation land in different districts of this province have been cleared.
 
The head of the fight against drugs in Herat stated: At least 18 drug traffickers have been arrested in Herat in the past year.
 
Juma Khan Osmani, the commander of the special unit of the Herat Police Command in the narcotics department, says: "After the decree of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate regarding the prohibition of narcotics cultivation, the narcotics farms have almost decreased.
 
According to him, currently there are no drug farms in public and some people are cultivating secretly in their gardens.
