WHO Warns of Potential Surge in Bone-breaking Fever Cases in Afghanistan

The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a warning regarding the potential surge in cases of dengue fever, often known as bone-breaking fever.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, The organization also expressed its readiness for its health workers to manage the disease in the country.

 
“With the onset of the rainy season, dengue cases could increase. We are preparing our health workers to manage dengue cases,” the organization tweeted.
 
WHO emphasized educating medical personnel to control dengue fever in eastern Afghanistan, which endangers high risk. 
 
The organization also held training sessions for 300 medical professionals across the eastern provinces of Afghanistan. 
 
“WHO has recently trained 300 doctors, nurses & lab technicians from 18 hospitals & 250 health facilitates from Kunar, Laghman, Nuristan & Nangarhar,” the organization added.
 
The three-day program on managing dengue cases featured 12 groups of 65 female health workers.
 
The organization also asked the people of Afghanistan to take the appropriate precautions to safeguard their families from mosquito bites and prevent dengue.
