Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni announced that 54 Ugandan soldiers were killed in an attack by Al-Shabab terrorist group on a base in Somalia about a week ago.
Local sources previously reported that the Somali group al-Shabab attacked a base in Bulu Merir city, 110 kilometers south of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, on the 26th of May. The base where the Ugandan forces attached to the African Union Mission in Somalia were stationed.
In a statement on the same day, while taking responsibility for the attack, al-Shabab announced that its elements had killed 137 soldiers by carrying out suicide attacks. However, the Somali government and the delegation of the African Union did not issue a statement in this regard.
