Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Washington on Sunday due to an "immediate bladder problem" related to prostate cancer, the Pentagon announced.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Pentagon has added that the responsibilities of the country's defense minister have been transferred to his deputy, Kathleen Hicks.
 
Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said in a statement that the secretary, who has prostate cancer and had recently undergone surgery, was taken to a military treatment facility in suburban Washington for "an urgent bladder problem."
 
He added that Lloyd Austin is still undergoing treatment and the White House and Congress have been informed.
 
Previously, Lloyd Austin apologized to the American people in a press conference on February 1 for keeping his cancer a secret.
