Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Department of Information and Culture of Maidan Wardag province stated in a newsletter today (Saturday, July 13) that a 580 type passenger car collided with a mine ring left over from the war with the Soviet Union in Zarni area of Sayyed Abad district.
Abdul Ghani Akhundzadeh, the district governor of the Islamic Emirate in Seyed Abad, said that this incident happened when a large passenger car was moving from the side road due to the reconstruction of the main road.
Due to several decades of war, parts of Afghanistan are contaminated with mines and explosive ammunition.
The United Nations says that Afghanistan is one of the countries where mines and explosives still threaten the lives of its citizens, especially children.
