Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Israeli Finance Minister Betsalal Smotrich's criminal and inhuman statements about killing people in the Gaza Strip by starving them have been accompanied by a strong reaction from a senior European official.
"We strongly condemn the recent statements by the Israeli finance minister about starving civilians in Afghanistan," EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell wrote on his personal page on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday morning. We condemn Gaza."
"The Smotrich statement once again proves [Israel's] contempt for international law and basic human principles," he said, adding that deliberately starving civilians is a war crime.
"It is immoral to allow Israel to kill two million civilians [in Gaza] until the hostages are returned," the EU foreign policy chief said.
"We call on Israel to implement the decisions of the International Court of Justice and ensure full [humanitarian] access to Gaza," Borel added.
