An Mi-8 helicopter with 22 passengers, most of them tourists, has gone missing on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia's Far East, local Russian authorities said.


Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: "Vladimir Solodov", the governor of Kamchatka, while confirming this news, told the Russian news agency "Tass": "This afternoon (Saturday), there was contact with the Mi-8 helicopter, which had 19 passengers and It had three crew members, it was cut off."
 
Russia's emergency service also told TASS: "It was previously reported that a Mi-8 helicopter with three crew members and 19 passengers disappeared from radar almost immediately after takeoff from the Vachkazhets volcanic site in Kamchatka, Russia."
 
MI8 is a twin-engine helicopter designed in the 1960s; This helicopter is widely used in Russia as well as in neighboring countries and many other countries.
 
The helicopter was transporting passengers from the origin of the ancient Vachkajj volcano in an area of ​​the peninsula known for its wild landscapes and active volcanoes.
 
From there, the helicopter was heading east towards the village of Nikolaevka (a distance of about 25 km), officials said.
 
On the other hand, according to officials, the search and rescue operation has faced difficulties due to thick fog in the region.
 
More information about the condition of this helicopter and its passengers has not yet been reported.
 
Earlier, a helicopter of the Russian army crashed in the Kaluga region, as a result of which all its passengers died.
 
Meanwhile, in similar events, "technical violation" has led to the disappearance and fall of helicopters.
