Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Diosdado Cabello", the Minister of Interior Affairs of Venezuela, in an interview with the state television of this country, announced that the arrested people are part of the plan of the American Intelligence Organization (CIA) to overthrow the Venezuelan government and assassinate the president and some of his members.
This happens two days after Washington sanctioned 16 officials aligned with and supporting the president of Venezuela.
The Minister of Interior of Venezuela further added that one of the detained Americans is named "Wilbert Joseph Castanda Gomez", who is a former Marine of the US Army and has previously participated in the war in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the conflicts in Colombia.
The US State Department released a statement confirming the arrest of a member of the US military in Venezuela and added about two other American citizens that "we are aware of unconfirmed reports of two other citizens detained in Venezuela."
Hours before, the Venezuelan Ministry of Interior announced the seizure of a large shipment of American weapons for riots in the country.
Al-Mayadin news channel reported on Sunday morning that the Ministry of Interior of Venezuela announced in a statement that more than 400 illegal weapons were seized in the country.
It is stated in this statement that it was supposed to be used by the radical opponents of the Maduro government to create chaos and instability in this country.
The alleged victory of the opponents of the Venezuelan government against the announcement of the official victory of "Nicolas Maduro" has led to street protests and clashes with police forces and diplomatic tensions in this country.
On Monday (July 29/8th of Asad), one day after the presidential election of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro was announced as the country's president for the next 6 years, and on the other hand, the opposition, who had hoped for Edmundo González, not only refused to recognize the results. They refused and instead called Gonzalez "president-elect".
The National Electoral Council of Venezuela announced Nicolas Maduro as the winner of the presidential election with 51.2% of the votes against Edmundo González Urrutia with 44.2%. Maduro defended his victory and the opposition, led by María Corina Machado, rejected the result, claiming Gonzalez won 73.2 percent of the vote.
On the other hand, Al Jazeera channel quoted Reuters as reporting that the US State Department has announced the arrest of a member of the US military in Venezuela on charges of subversion against the legitimate government of Caracas.
In this regard, Reuters reported, citing the US State Department, that the White House announced that the arrest of an American citizen on charges of subversion against President Nicolas Maduro is a "false claim".
