Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to "Tass" news agency, Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, announced last night (Monday, 26 Sableh) at the Security Council meeting that Israel will carry out its military operations in Gaza with the open support of the United States.
Expressing concern that a "catastrophic humanitarian situation" has arisen in the Gaza Strip, where the Palestinian people live, this Russian diplomat said: "The reason for this situation is the continuous military operations of the Israeli army, which disregard international humanitarian law and Security Council resolutions. It is done by the United Nations. This false confidence is only due to the unconditional support of the United States, which has blocked any substantive Security Council resolution for almost a year.
Nebenzia pointed out that the Russian side hopes that the members of the UN Security Council will consider the necessary and principled measures to reduce the tension in Gaza instead of ineffective statements. He added: "We hope that all members of the Security Council will have a sense of collective responsibility for what is happening in Gaza, so that we can jointly and urgently formulate the necessary measures to reduce tension and implement them."
In the end, this Russian diplomat emphasized that this has not happened so far.
Instead of examining the situation in Gaza, the Security Council promotes Zelensky
The permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations also reminded that the Western members of the Security Council, instead of solving the dire situation in Gaza, have promoted the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
"It is regrettable that instead of discussing the current problems in the Gaza Strip on the eve of the anniversary of the events of October 7 during the high-level week of the Security Council, our Western colleagues are promoting the President of Ukraine, who The date of its use is over, they pay. I hope you realize how hypocritical your words seem today in such a situation."
The senior diplomat also noted that representatives of Western countries have remained silent on the Middle East conflict, instead of providing an honest assessment of what is happening to the Palestinian people. Nebenzia added: "If this issue was about any other country, they would strongly condemn the similar actions of the Israeli side, but they are silent about Gaza."
It should be noted that the high-level week of the UN General Assembly will be held in New York from September 24 to 30, and the Russian delegation will be headed by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Previously, in early September, Dmitry Polyansky, the first deputy permanent representative of Russia to the United Nations, announced that the Israeli authorities are trying to ignore the resolution of the United Nations Security Council on the need to stop military aggression against the civilian population of Gaza. Also, Vassili Nebenzia said earlier that the peace plan presented by US President Joe Biden to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict will not be implemented and will prevent new resolutions from being drafted that demand an immediate end to the conflicts in Gaza.
