Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held in Islamabad today, Tuesday, hosted by Pakistan, in order to strengthen mutual cooperation and take important organizational decisions.
According to this report, the 23rd meeting of the heads of state of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will begin this Tuesday evening with the opening ceremony in the federal capital of Islamabad and will continue for 2 days.
In this two-day meeting, the strengthening of cultural relations and cooperation centered on trade and economy will be discussed and the leaders of the member countries will take important organizational decisions to increase cooperation and approve the budget of the organization.
The theme of the 2024 summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which will be held at the Jinnah Convention Center, will be strengthening multilateral dialogue, striving for sustainable peace and prosperity.
After the high-ranking Chinese delegation headed by Prime Minister Li Qiang visited Pakistan on Monday, high-ranking officials of other SCO member countries, including the prime ministers of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus, also arrived in Islamabad this morning.
Also, Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar arrived in Pakistan a few hours ago to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
According to Pakistani media, Jaishankar was welcomed by Pakistani officials today (Tuesday, 24 Mizan) at Islamabad International Airport.
This is the first visit of the Indian foreign minister to Pakistan in the last decade.
According to this report, a bilateral meeting between Indian and Pakistani officials has not been planned.
On the other hand, the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Seyed Mohammad Atabek, Minister of Mining Industry and Trade of this country, has left for Pakistan this evening. Also, the prime ministers of Russia, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan will also participate in this meeting.
According to news sources, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Cabinet Ministers of the Government of Turkmenistan will participate as guests and observers in the 23rd meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Islamabad.
Due to the darkening of the political situation in Pakistan, serious security measures have been taken in Islamabad, the capital of this country, and the roads of Islamabad and people's business areas have been blocked since yesterday for the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The government of Pakistan has announced a three-day holiday for holding this meeting.
Afghanistan was accepted as an observer member of this organization in 2012; But the Islamic Emirate was not invited in this meeting.
