Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Yesterday's speech by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the "TRT International Assembly" (Turkish State Radio and Television Organization) was accompanied by protests from Palestinian supporters.
One of the protesters asked loudly during Erdogan's speech, "Why is Azerbaijani oil being sent to Israel?" and was escorted out of the hall by security forces.
A young man also shouted at Erdogan, "The Zionists continue their operations in our seas and ports. The ships are carrying bombs to Gaza."
Erdogan responded by saying, "Don't become a spokesman for the Zionists."
Leaked reports of Turkey continuing trade relations with Israel despite Ankara's claim that it had severed ties in protest of the Gaza genocide have sparked domestic criticism and backlash in the country. Activists and human rights groups say the Turkish government needs to match its words with its actions.
