UN to implement alternative poppy cultivation project in Helmand and Kandahar
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FA0), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will launch an alternative poppy cultivation project in Kandahar and Helmand provinces in 2025, the provincial governor's press office said.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Kandahar Governor Mullah Mohammad Shirin Akhund has assured full cooperation in the implementation of the project, the office said in a statement.
 
The project includes the distribution of wheat, maize and onion seeds, the construction of greenhouses, the distribution of livestock and animal feed, the support of gardeners and the construction of new gardens, the training of farmers and gardeners, the marketing of agricultural products, the creation of jobs for the people, and the support of Enterprises are getting smaller.
 
It is worth mentioning that with the ban on drug cultivation in the country, farmers need to receive alternative crops and the government has repeatedly asked international organizations for cooperation in this regard.
