Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): US President-elect Donald Trump today (Saturday) stressed in response to the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government: "Assad is gone and Russia has abandoned him. Russia has lost all its interests in Syria because of Ukraine."
Trump continued, "Russia had no reason to be there in the first place, they lost all their interests in Syria because of Ukraine. A war in which 600,000 Russian soldiers were killed or wounded, a war that should never have started."
Trump claimed that with the fall of the Syrian government, Iran and Russia are currently in a weak position.
The US President-elect claimed in this regard that “Russia and Iran are now in a weak position, the first because of Ukraine and the bad economy and the second because of Israel”.
In a statement, Trump accused Russia and said that “Assad is gone, he fled the country. His backer, Russia under Vladimir Putin, was no longer willing to protect him”.
The US President-elect then linked the developments in Syria to Ukraine and said that “Similarly, Zelensky and Ukraine are willing to make a deal and end this madness. They have lost 400,000 soldiers and many more civilians”.
Trump continued that “there must be an immediate ceasefire (in Ukraine) and negotiations begin .... If it continues, things will get worse. I know Vladimir Putin. It is time to act. China can help. The world is waiting”.
The White House spokesman had previously said that Joe Biden was closely monitoring developments in Syria.
Sullivan: US concerned about ISIS revival in Syria
The US National Security Advisor also said in a statement that our top priority is to ensure that developments in Syria do not lead to the revival of ISIS.
According to him, the Biden administration is trying to ensure that allies, including Israel, Jordan, Iraq and others in the region, are strong and secure, and we are in contact with them every day.
