Security Council to hold meeting on Syria
Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government, the UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Monday to review the situation in Syria.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on Monday to review the situation in Syria after the recent events in the country.

The AFP news agency reported this early Monday morning, citing diplomatic sources, while some media outlets reported that Russia had requested that the meeting be confidential.

Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's deputy ambassador to the UN, said: "The recent events in Syria have occurred while we are still in doubt about their consequences for the country and the Middle East. Therefore, Russia is calling for confidential consultations by the UN Security Council on this matter."

Polyansky added: "In addition to examining the circumstances of the fall of the central government in Syria, we are also seeking consultations on the UN peacekeeping forces stationed in the buffer zone between Syria and the occupied territories in the Golan Heights at Monday's meeting."

This issue is being raised by Russia at a time when Zionist troops, under the direct orders of the regime's Minister of War, have occupied the buffer zone inside Syria.

In this regard, the German Chancellor said this morning, Monday, that finding a political solution to end the conflict in Syria is possible and that we will help achieve it in cooperation with international partners and in accordance with Security Council resolutions.
