Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Mohammad Halim Rafe, spokesman of the National Statistics and Information Office, said in an interview with AVA that in coordination with Iranian authorities and the Afghan Embassy in Tehran, three electronic ID card distribution centers are being established and the process of hiring employees is also nearing completion.
According to Rafe, the opening of electronic ID card centers for refugees in Iran, after the United Arab Emirates, is one of the priorities of this office and it is working to accelerate the process of distributing them.
He announced the signing of memorandums of understanding for the distribution of electronic ID cards with different countries and added that we are trying to provide the necessary facilities for immigrants to obtain ID cards in any country they are in.
Rafi also announced the establishment of new electronic ID card distribution centers, in addition to Iran, in countries such as Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and other countries of the world.
Regarding the price of issuing electronic ID cards for citizens of the country outside Afghanistan, he said that the price of issuing ID cards in Iran has not yet been determined, but this price in the United Arab Emirates is $50.
For this reason, it is likely that the price of issuing ID cards in Iran will also be $50.
How is the process of distributing ID cards inside the country
The spokesperson for the National Statistics and Information Office also continued his speech in response to the question of how is the process of distributing ID cards inside the country? He said that the process of distributing ID cards inside the country is also going on normally in the center and provinces, and with the establishment of several new daily distribution centers, it has also accelerated.
According to Rafe, nearly 144,000 electronic ID cards were distributed to 143,803 citizens in the month of Aqrab 1403 through 79 electronic ID card and easy-to-use distribution centers across the country.
Citizens complain about the high cost of electronic ID cards
This is while some citizens complain about the high cost of electronic ID cards, saying that during the republican era, the price of a single ID card was 100 Afghanis, but it has now reached 500 and 700 Afghanis.
Nazer Hussain, one of the applicants for electronic ID cards, told AVA that in these unemployment conditions, he cannot obtain electronic ID cards for 9 members of his family, while paper ID cards are also not valid in any case.
He calls on the Islamic Emirate to lower the cost of electronic ID cards and create more convenience for people in this regard.
Salam Khan, another citizen, says that he still does not understand why the cost of electronic ID cards has increased several times since the republican era.
According to him, just as the Islamic Emirate has eased the financial pressures on the people in many cases, including waiving taxes on shopkeepers who earn less than one million Afghanis annually, it should also reduce the cost of electronic ID cards so that citizens in difficult unemployment situations can easily obtain them.
These statements are made while the spokesperson for the National Statistics and Information Office states that the main factors behind the increase in the price of electronic ID cards are the increase in services and costs, and the price of carbonite money cards in global markets.
Last year, the Council of Ministers of the Islamic Emirate set the price of electronic ID cards at its center at 500 Afghanis and 700 Afghanis through Asan Khidmat, and it was announced that through Asan Khidmat, ID cards will be printed and given to applicants within 24 hours.
It is worth noting that the National Statistics and Information Office announced that 144,000 electronic ID cards were issued in the month of Qorb this year alone. Previously, the spokesperson for this department had said that with the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate's sovereignty throughout the country, 6.5 million electronic ID cards have been distributed by 76 active centers.
