Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The inauguration ceremony of the practical work of the first phase of the New Kabul project under the name "Golden City" with an investment of $700 million from the private sector was held today (Tuesday, December 11) in Deh Sabz district in the presence of senior officials of the Islamic Emirate, industrialists and investors.
Hamdullah Nomani, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Housing, said at the event that a system for the acquisition of the New Kabul City project has been created to solve the problems of investors.
The Acting Minister of Urban Development and Housing stated that all necessary matters have been considered in this project and that the project will be built with international standards.
Hamdullah Nomani added that the Ministry of Urban Development has signed a contract with the private sector to develop five sections of the first phase of the New Kabul project, according to which investors will invest $6.5 billion, between 8 and 10 years before the start of its work.
The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing says that 206 sections are located in the first phase of the New Kabul project, which has two separate sections with an area of 372.3 hectares of land, in which 42,000 residential units for about 23,000 people will be built in the first section, and the second section, which has 209.3 hectares of land, is intended for 1,800 residential units for about 10,000 people.
The Acting Minister of Urban Development added that the contract for this project has been given to a domestic company and the ministry is supervising the implementation of the first section of the first phase of the New Kabul project, and the investment value in this project is $700 million.
On the other hand, Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administration, said that the implementation of the New Kabul City project is necessary and vital, and with its implementation, the problems of housing shortage will be solved and other facilities will be created, including eliminating the problem of population density, eliminating minimum unemployment, starting reconstruction, transferring trade, building infrastructure and public urban facilities.
Maulvi Hanafi said that the Islamic Emirate is determined to implement the New Kabul project.
Stating that the construction that has been carried out in Kabul so far is substandard and not in accordance with the master plan, he stated that all environmental issues and the urban master plan have been considered in the New Kabul project.
Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, also said at the ceremony that with the arrival of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, more facilities have been provided for citizens.
Stanikzai emphasized that with the start of practical work on the first phase of the New Kabul project, most of the problems of citizens will be solved, especially in the housing and unemployment sectors.
Meanwhile, Nooruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, also said in the program that the start of the New Kabul project will provide many conveniences to traders and investors in all areas, especially in the trade and industry sectors.
Azizi called on traders and investors who are abroad to come to the country and invest in Afghanistan.
He assured that the Islamic Emirate will provide all conveniences to traders and investors and welcome their activities inside the country.
