Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mashhad: According to law enforcement officials in Khorasan Razavi Province of the Islamic Republic of Iran, "With the round-the-clock efforts of police detectives in Khorasan Razavi, the kidnapping of an Afghan citizen for $200,000 ended while the kidnappers staged horrific scenes to create fear and terror in the hearts of the 7-year-old child's parents."
It is said that on the afternoon of the 5th of January, a 7-year-old child was playing and jumping with his little brother in a park in the taxi town of Mashhad. A few minutes later, he returned home at the request of his grandmother to bring his brother some drinking water. But he never returned to the park, and concerns about his disappearance increased when the child's mother reported that he had left the house with a bottle of water.
According to Asr-e Iran, the search by the members of this Afghan immigrant family was unsuccessful, and they reported the incident to the police when someone sent a bloody picture of "Omid" (a 7-year-old child) to his father through cyberspace networks, claiming that if they wanted the child to be safe, they would have to pay a ransom of $200,000!
The child's family, who were terrified by seeing the child's bloody and bandaged foot, entered the police station in tears and asked for help from the law enforcement forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Khorasan newspaper’s exclusive report states: Given the importance of violent crimes and the sensitivity of the issue, a special group of detectives from the Criminal Department immediately took action with the emphasis and special order of Brigadier General Mohammad Kazem Taghavi (Khorasan Razavi Police Commander), while Detective Colonel Javad Shafizadeh (Chief of the Provincial Intelligence Police) directly supervised the police operations. This sensitive operation progressed to the point that after 6 days and nights of extensive intelligence and terrifying activity, the detectives first forced the hostage taker to release the 7-year-old child, and then, in a strike operation coordinated by the Mehwalat Intelligence Police, they trapped 2 of the main perpetrators of the hostage-taking on the Mehwalat Road before they fled across the border.
Last Wednesday, an hour after the arrest of two of the main perpetrators of the hostage-taking, the police commander of Khorasan Razavi Province, while explaining the details of this extensive operation, said: As soon as the kidnapping report was received, technical and specialized investigations were launched using the scientific and equipment of the Mashhad Intelligence Police, and it was determined that the child was kidnapped by four masked occupants of a Peugeot Pars car.
Mohammad Kazem Taghavi added: A review of traffic cameras also indicated that a young woman had dragged the child into the Peugeot Pars car under an excuse and fled to an unknown location while the appearance of the car/motorcycle had changed on the road, but a specialized review of the child's bloody images via cyberspace also showed that the hostage-takers had soaked the child's foot in tomato paste and bandaged it to create panic and concern.
According to him, therefore, intelligence investigations focused on the kidnappers' route and the driver of the Pride car, who was transporting passengers in the car, was trapped. He said during interrogations: "I gave two young men a ride from a shopping center to Shandiz, but we hadn't reached our destination yet when one of the passengers took my phone from me for an urgent call and then returned it, but my passengers got off before reaching their destination and claimed to be with one of their friends!" This security official from Mashhad stated: "Based on the statements of the bus driver, it was revealed that the hostage-takers had installed one of the internet networks on their own phone by abusing the driver's phone password, and then sent the images to the hostage's family from across the border (in Afghanistan) to demand a ransom of $200,000." Sardar Taghavi continued: "With this information, several specialized groups of detectives, in cooperation with the Khorasan Razavi Criminal Intelligence Forces, conducted police surveillance for 6 days and nights and identified the owner of the Peugeot Pars car, but he had been fired from his job and had also changed his place of residence." On the other hand, the detectives, who were sure that the Afghan child was being held in Mashhad, resorted to specialized techniques to first free the child from their grasp. Therefore, they discreetly removed the scope of the investigation in such a way that the approximate area of the hostage-takers' hideout was determined. On the other hand, the method of revealing the investigation made the hostage-takers feel surrounded by the police. Thus, they left the child in another area and decided to leave the country.
A senior police official in Iran's Khorasan Razavi Province noted: It did not take long for the child in question to be handed over to his family and an operation to arrest the hostage-takers was immediately put on the agenda of the intelligence police, but intelligence observations showed that two of the main hostage-takers were moving towards the province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
Mohammad Kazem Taghavi, who emphasizes the decisive pursuit of violent crimes by Iranian law enforcement forces, explained the continuation of this strike operation: An hour later, with the coordination of the "Mehvalat" intelligence police, a group of elite operational forces went into action and arrested a young couple after crossing the Mahna intersection.
