Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Lebanese Prime Minister's Office announced yesterday evening (Monday, January 7) that the country's interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with the US special envoy Amos Hochstein.
The Lebanese Prime Minister's Office stated in a statement that Mikati and Hochstein discussed the steps of the ceasefire with the Zionist terrorist interim regime.
Al Jazeera reported, citing the statement: "In a meeting with the US envoy, Prime Minister Mikati once again called for an end to the ceasefire violations and systematic destruction of Lebanese homes and facilities by the Zionist regime."
Washington to provide $95 million in military aid to Lebanon for Egypt
Meanwhile, the US State Department announced in a letter to Congress that it will allocate $95 million in military aid to Egypt to the Lebanese army due to human rights violations in the country.
“The aid to Lebanon includes provisions to address the security requirements of the transition of power in Syria,” Reuters reported, citing US congressional officials.
“The aid to Lebanon will focus on supporting the army and strengthening border security,” the US State Department letter to Congress said, according to the report.
