Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Iraqi Prime Minister's Office announced that Mohammad Shia al-Sudani left Baghdad for Tehran a few moments ago, as part of an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iraqi sources had previously announced that Al-Sudani will travel to Tehran at the head of a high-ranking delegation in response to the invitation of Iranian officials, and that the review of bilateral relations and the expansion of political and economic cooperation are among the main axes of this trip.
The spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ismail Baqaei, also announced that the Iraqi Prime Minister will travel to Tehran later this week to meet and talk with senior Iranian officials.
The President of Iran, Masoud Mezikian, had previously visited Iraq on his first foreign trip in September 2024.
During this trip, he went to various cities in Iraq, including the cities of Kurdistan and Basra, and in describing the achievements of his trip, he stated that all the Iraqi officials pledged to activate the border markets of the two countries both on the borders with Kurdistan and Khuzestan.
