Increase in arrests and deportations of Afghan refugees in European countries / The process of deporting criminals will continue
The German Ministry of the Interior announced that it has deported 1,361 Afghan refugees from the country in the past year. Most of the deportees were criminals or had no documents. The ministry also emphasized that the process of deporting criminals will continue.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to German media reports, the country has deported more people in 2024 than in 2023.

Meanwhile, according to Turkish media reports, the country's police have arrested 30 Afghan refugees from different cities in the country.

These media reported that the police in the city of Bitlis in the country arrested 24 undocumented Afghan refugees on Tuesday, January 8.

On the other hand, the police in the cities of Sivas and Balikesir in Turkey have also arrested six Afghan refugees and transferred them to deportation centers.

Media reports say that police in the city of Edirne have also arrested 15 Afghan and Pakistani asylum seekers, but it is not clear how many of them are Afghans.

Turkish police have recently intensified the process of arresting and deporting Afghan refugees. Not long ago, the Turkish Interior Ministry reported that it had arrested and deported 141,187 undocumented asylum seekers in one year.

This comes as the process of deportation, arrest and harassment of Afghan refugees in Pakistan has also intensified in recent weeks.
