85% increase in transit of goods from Iran
The Director General of Customs of Iran's South Khorasan Province said: In the first 9 months of this year, 21,998 trucks worth $987 million were transited from the Mahirud market in South Khorasan to Afghanistan, which is an 85% increase in value.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Tehran: Mohammad Kohgerd, Director General of Customs of South Khorasan Province, stated: This number of trucks weighing 567,838 tons, including sugar, flour, edible oil and chemical fertilizers, have been transited from Turkey, the UAE and Indonesia to Afghanistan through Mahirud Customs.

He stated: The total export goods exiting through customs in the first 9 months of this year were $835,743,474 in value and 2,158,736 tons in weight.

The Director General of South Khorasan Customs continued: This amount has increased by 75 percent in value and 27 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.

Referring to the definitive exports from Birjand, Mahirud customs and the customs located in the Mahirud and Yazdan border markets, Kohgerd said: This year, export declarations worth 210 million 198 thousand 648 dollars and weighing more than 1 million 114 thousand 367 tons have been made, which shows an increase of 56 percent in value and 20 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.

He noted: The main items of definitive exports from South Khorasan Customs since the beginning of this year have included cement, tiles, ceramics, vegetables, tires, eggs, hydrocarbons and plastic products.

Kohgerd continued: Most of these items have been exported to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq and Uzbekistan.

He referred to exports of Article 16 (goods declared at other customs and exits from Mahirood customs and customs located in border markets of South Khorasan) and said: The licenses issued for this type of export were also 475 million 544 thousand 826 dollars weighing more than 1 million 44 thousand 220 tons, which is an increase of 39 percent in value and 34 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.

The Director General of South Khorasan Customs stated: The main items exported under Article 116 included glass, urea perlite, tiles and ceramics, glassware, iron ingots, etc.

Pointing out that Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are the most important export target countries of South Khorasan, Kohgerd added: Of the total exports of goods from South Khorasan, 196 million dollars were sent to Afghanistan, 4.5 million dollars to Pakistan, 4.5 million dollars to Iraq, 1 million 600 thousand dollars to Turkmenistan and 600 thousand dollars to Uzbekistan.

The Director General of Industry, Mine and Trade of South Khorasan also said: Last year, the commitment of South Khorasan province's export goods was $110 million, and exports of $178 million have been realized.

Ahmad Ariafer added: This year, South Khorasan's export commitment was $140 million, and exports of $210 million have been realized so far, and this increase in exports indicates an increase in production within South Khorasan.

He said: In the first 9 months of this year, 1 million 600 tons of cement were produced in South Khorasan, while this amount was 1 million 300 thousand tons in the same period last year.

Ariafer added: In the field of tile and ceramic production, we also produced 20 million cubic meters last year, and this amount was 16 million cubic meters in the first 9 months of this year.
