Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad welcomed the election of the new president of Lebanon

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement congratulated Joseph Aoun as the new president of Lebanon by issuing independent statements.

According to Al Jazeera, based on this, in the statement published by the Hamas movement, it is stated: We hope that Aoun's new presidency in Lebanon will be an era of success in guiding this country towards progress and prosperity and realizing the goals of the Lebanese nation in terms of the complete liberation of their land from hand of the Zionist enemy and maintain the integrity, security and stability of this country.

This movement is based on its constant concern for internal peace in Lebanon and the establishment of better relations between the Lebanese and Palestinian nations, as well as opposing the projects of choosing an alternative homeland and trying to provide a dignified life for the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon through the establishment of their human and social rights until He emphasized the possibility of returning to their city and homeland in Palestine.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad also issued a statement and announced: We congratulate Joseph Aoun and the Lebanese people on his election as the President of Lebanon.

In the continuation of this statement, it is stated: This election is a gateway to a new era of stability and prosperity, which will strengthen the unity and sovereignty of Lebanon, preserve the security and peace of the citizens, and heal the effects of the recent aggressions of the Zionist regime on Lebanon and its people.

Islamic Jihad emphasizes: Palestinian Islamic Jihad emphasizes our support for everything that increases cooperation and convergence between the people of Palestine and Lebanon and respect for the full sovereignty of Lebanon. We hope that Joseph Aoun's presidency will be a real opportunity to address the situation of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and guarantee their social and human rights without harming their inalienable right to return to their Palestinian land.

 

At the same time, the American president welcomed the election of "Joseph Aoun" as the new president of Lebanon and considered him a suitable leader for Lebanon.

On the other hand, the French presidential palace (Elysée) welcomed the election of Joseph Aoun as the new president of Lebanon and announced the desire of Paris to expand political relations with Beirut. In the Elysee statement, it is said: French President Emmanuel Macron is going to visit Lebanon soon and meet and discuss with the country's top officials.

After the First World War and the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, France divided the Ottoman colonies in the Middle East with England during the Sykes-Picot agreement. During these divisions, France assumed the guardianship of Lebanon and Syria, an issue that has since caused extensive interventions by Paris in the affairs of Beirut and Damascus.
