Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The press office of the National Disaster Preparedness Authority (NDA) said in a statement that Mullah Nooruddin Torabi, the head of the agency, met with Ms. Veronica Boswick Pohar, the EU Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ms. Crane, the head of the prevention, Mr. François visited the head of the emergency department and Kevin the consultant.
Torabi first welcomed the delegation and shared a number of topics with them, including problems caused by natural and unnatural disasters, climate change, drought and challenges related to the prevention sector.
Mr. Torabi also called for their cooperation in the field of emergency management and risks related to natural and unnatural disasters and implementation of preventive projects.
"Together we must work more in the field of prevention and reduction of accident risks, because prevention is done at less cost and prevents major damage, therefore, we must implement prevention projects in all regions," he stressed.
Meanwhile, Ms. Veronica, the EU's ambassador to Afghanistan, pointed to her country's cooperation with the National Disaster Preparedness Agency, saying they had spent $150 million over the past three years and were ready to continue their assistance.
He stressed that they would cooperate in accordance with the principles of the government and the needs of ministries and government agencies.
In case of emergency, the European Union has provided assistance to the earthquake victims of Paktia, Khost and Herat provinces within 24 hours and provided food and non-food aid worth $6 million to the affected families, the ambassador added.
Finally, both sides stressed the importance of coordination and cooperation in emergencies and humanitarian projects.
