Acting Foreign Minister Calls for Increasing Afghanistan
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a press release that Acting Minister Maulavi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Saudi Ambassador Faisal Talaq Al-Baqmi in Kabul, adding that during the meeting, Mr. Muttaqi called for providing consular services to Afghans residing in Saudi Arabia and increasing the Hajj quota.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: According to the press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting discussed and exchanged views on developing bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, providing consular services to Afghans residing in Saudi Arabia, and utilizing opportunities in bilateral relations in general.
The press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that, at the beginning, while welcoming the Saudi Ambassador, Mr. Muttaqi considered the relations between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia valuable and historical, adding that the relations between the two countries should be increased.
It was stated that during the meeting, the Foreign Minister also called on the Saudi government to increase the Hajj and Umrah quota for the country's citizens and also to help provide consular services to Afghans residing in Saudi Arabia.
The Foreign Ministry's press release added that the Saudi ambassador, in turn, called the bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia historic and emphasized that his country wants to help Afghans in various fields by being present in Kabul. Mr. Faisal Talaq Al-Baqmi also said that both countries can work in different fields and the goal of resuming the activities of the Saudi embassy in Kabul is to use all available capacities.
