Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The US President-elect said in an interview with Newsmax on Monday that after he arrives at the White House next week (February 1), he will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin very quickly.
He did not specify the exact time of the meeting, which if it takes place would be the first meeting between US and Russian presidents since the start of the Ukraine war. Asked about his strategy for ending the Ukraine war, Trump said, "Well, there is only one strategy and that is up to Putin; I can't imagine that he is happy with the way things have gone because they haven't gone well for him either."
The US President-elect added, "And I know he wants to meet and I will meet with him very quickly. "(I) should have done it sooner, but... (before that) you need to get into the (Presidential) office." US Congressman Mike Waltz, who is set to be Trump's White House national security adviser, said on Sunday that he expects a call between Trump and Putin in the coming days and weeks.
